ART/ESX/C&D/TC Design/JustRacing.com Finishes Third At The 2005 NASA 25 Hours Of Thunderhill

ART/ESX Subaru STi Reaches The Podium In Its Maiden Race

SAN JOSE, CA, Dec 6 / The ART/ESX/C&D/TC Design/JustRacing.com Subaru STi made a bold statement to the motorsports community on Sunday by finishing third in its debut race at the 2005 NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill and earning Subaru its first ever podium in a North American Endurance event. The ART car ran for a flawless 25 hours and completed 659 laps of the grueling 3.1 mile circuit.

"To say that we are pleased with our finish doesn't quite capture our joy at this result," Marshall Pruett, ART principle and co-founder, said. "The level of effort put in by our team, our partners, and our sponsors was both unprecedented and the only reason for our incredible success."

Driving duties during the race were handled by a variety of professional racers and veterans: Csaba Csere (Editor-in-Chief, Car and Driver magazine), Gary Sheehan (Grand Am, USTCC), Dave McEntee (ALMS LMP2, ALMS GT), Dale Sievwright (USTCC), Auston Harris (Formula TR), and Marco Romani (BMW CCA Club Racing).

"My many years in professional racing have exposed me to literally thousands of people," Pruett continued. "Our lineup of drivers and crew was some of the finest I've ever been privileged to work with. Their dedication and resolve brought us to the finish line."

The design and engineering of the Subaru STi was a collaboration between ART, ESX Motorsports, TC Design, PDX Tuning, Subaru Performance Tuning, Perrin Performance, Toyo Tires, StopTech brakes, The Tire Rack, and Subaru of America.

Team ART is proud to be affiliated with the Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation and dedicated promotional space on the car to assist SSPF in raising money to find a permanent cure for those afflicted with chronic and acute paralysis. Team ART would like to thank reigning NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Champion Tony Stewart for his generous donation. Fans can match donations at www.samschmidt.org.

SAN JOSE, CA, Nov 15 / The ART/ESX/C&D/TC Design/JustRacing.com STi, destined for success in the 2005 NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill Endurance Race, successfully completed its first track test on Monday. Dave Brown Takes Third Win of 2005 Hankook United States Touring Car Championship at Infineon Raceway

August 7th, 2005 / Sonoma, CA / C&R Promotions / Though the results are still unofficial due to some "irregularities", the last eight days have been magical for Dave Brown and the Premier Choice / Opak Motorsports Acura RSX. After winning the Taylor Woodrow San Jose Grand Prix in dominant fashion just eight days earlier, Brown and his team followed up with another victory where he and his car were the class of the field and fastest all weekend long.

"The last ten days have been a dream come true, and I owe it all to my team and my sponsors." Brown beamed. "Every time I got in the car this weekend the crew had improved everything! The quality of all of our guys is the key to our race consistency and success this year." He added.

Brian Lock in the LIC Motorsports / GOTO Racing Subaru WRX finished in an impressive second, and was also the top finishing rookie. "The competition is so fierce at all of the USTCC races this year, and I'm really happy that we're fighting for victories." Said Lock. "With this second place finish, we're leading the rookie of the year points, and winning the Apex-I Rookie of the Year Award has been my goal this year."

Rounding out the podium was Andrie Hartanto in the Red Zone Performance / Prima Racing Honda Civic with an impressive drive. Andrie was doubly happy as he was pulling "double-duty" this weekend and finished first in an earlier race in a different class.

For additional information on the Hankook United States Touring Car Championship, please contact Robert Porter at robertporter@ustcc.com.

Dave Brown Makes Touring Car History in the Inaugural Taylor Woodrow San Jose Grand Prix

July 31st / San Jose, CA / C&R Promotions / For the competitors, it will be memories not soon forgotten, for Dave Brown it will unquestionably be one of his career highlights. Qualifying on the pole for Saturday's Hankook United States Touring Car Championship race at the Taylor Woodrow San Jose Grand Prix would be enough for many, but Brown drove a masterful race leading every lap from the drop of the green to the checkered the exhilaration in his voice was evident, as was the relief in his tired eyes. "To win any race is difficult, but to win here, against all of these fantastic drivers it's a dream come true," said Brown. This weekend belonged to the Premier Choice / Opak Racing Acura RSX of Brown and his team, with more than 30 cars in the field and nearly 51,000 fans in attendance the pressure for all of the drivers was more intense then any had felt before in their racing career.

Dale Sievwright driving the BMW 328is for MPACT Racing finished in a career high second place and was also the Apex-I award winner for the top finishing series rookie. "The course was tight and I had to fine-tune my driving style slightly to adjust to the walls," said Sievwright. "But, my team gave me a fantastic car today and the BMW power was awesome." Sievwright continued. "This is a fast course with tight turns," said third place finisher Brett Erickson, in the Erickson Motorsports VW GTI. "The drivers were up to the challenge of this difficult street course, and we all knew this race would be demanding and bring out the best racers, so I didn't worry." "Our goal was to get on the podium," said Brett. "I couldn't be happier with this result."

The racing was exciting with the right amount of close racing, hard passes and bent fenders to keep the fans on their feet throughout the entire 30-minute race.

For the Hankook Unites States Touring Car Championship it was the continuation of an incredible year, series car count is up 300% due in part to the increased media promotions, a redesigned website and first class event and tracks. And the media buzz surrounding the series has been nothing short of colossal with several magazines expanding their coverage due to increased interest. "We've found the right combination of competitive racing and cars that fans can relate to to move the USTCC into the forefront of road racing in the United States," said Robert Porter, Series Promotions & Public Relations Director. "Ali Arsham, Dave Balingit and I have worked extremely hard to make the series what we all knew it could be, and though there is still room for improvement, we're ecstatic with this year's success and 2006 will be even bigger," Porter continued.

For more information regarding the Hankook United States Touring Car Championship, please email Robert Porter at robertporter@ustcc.com.

Entry List Continues To Grow For Phoenix USTCC Race

May 16, 2005 / Los Angeles, CA / C & R Promotions / The NASA Sanctioned 2005 Hankook United States Touring Car fields are breaking records at every track they race. "The number of entries continues to grow at the USTCC races," said Robert Porter, Public Relation Director for the USTCC. "Every race breaks a record, it just proves that our formula of racing is what everyone wants to see."

The next stop for the USTCC is the world-famous Phoenix International Raceway. Phoenix has hosted all of the major US racing series including NASCAR, the IRL, and Champ Car. "We are fortunate to be racing at such a prestigious track," said Porter. "All of the major professional racing series compete here, because the track is challenging and it offers the right amount of long high speed straights with precise corners for exciting racing."

As the USTCC entered into its 5th year, many dramatic changes were implemented to increase both the competition on the track, as well as the promotions off. "With new sponsors, prestigious racetracks, a first-class website and more cars than we've ever had, I couldn't be happier with the growth of the series!" said Ali Arsham, USTCC Series Director. "The competition level has certainly increased this year, all of the drivers are pleased with the changes we've implemented and at Phoenix, four new cars will be debuting with the series," continued Arsham.

Dave Balingit, the USTCC series Chief Stewart says "Even though we are pretty happy with the tight 1-2-3 finish at California Speedway, we've made a few adjustments that should bring that second pack into the mix. I expect to see a five to six car battle for the lead."

Even more proof that the formula for is on target, the USTCC cars were invited to race at the inaugural San Jose Grand Prix July 29th - 31st with the Bridgestone Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford.

Off Camber Racing To Field 5 Miatas In SCCA Pro Miata Cup

Davis, Calif., April 13 – Off Camber Racing has announced that they will be putting 5 Miatas on track in familiar offset stripe livery for the West Coast Tour of the SCCA Pro Racing Mazdaspeed Miata Cup presented by Hankook tires. The West Coast Tour kicks off April 30 with a double header at Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca.

Leading the OCR squad into Mazda Raceway will be Off Camber Racing co-founder and principal Justin Hall. Justin captured his first SCCA Pro Racing victory in round 4 of the 2004 MazdaSpeed Miata Cup, and is looking to parlay that success into a season championship for 2005. Said Justin, "2004 was a great success on multiple levels, from my first pro win, to winning the San Francisco Region SM Championship, and being named SFR driver of the year. A huge part of this success was the level of preparation and reliability of OCR prepared Spec Miatas - out of 16 races my car podiumed 15 times with 1 4th place finish - 9 wins and 0 DNFs. We certainly hope this same level of preparation can propel us to success this year in the highly competitive Miata Cup Pro series."

Joining Justin is his partner and co-founder David McAnaney. 2005 will be David's 4th year behind the wheel of a Spec Miata and his first in SCCA Pro racing. David wrapped up 2004 in style by besting a 53 car Spec Miata field during the Western States Championships at Thunderhill Raceway, setting a new SM track record in the process. "I am very excited to take this next logical step into SCCA Pro Racing - the cars are well sorted and we are certainly optimistic given both Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca and Infineon Raceway are essentially home tracks for our team," commented David.

Off Camber Racing is pleased to announce the addition of Brad Rampelberg as factory driver to the team. Brad brings an impressive pedigree in both open wheel racing and sedans to the table, and is a proven Spec Miata competitor having stood on the center step of the podium at the 2004 season opening Miata Cup race in Phoenix. "Pro Spec Miata racing is so close in terms of both quality of competitors and parity of cars, the opportunity to run under the OCR tent is one that I immediately jumped at. I am looking forward to working with Justin and Dave this year both on and off the track and helping to ensure OCR cars are consistently in victory lane," said Brad.

Rounding out the team will be Bob Michaelian piloting the white and black #63, and Rob Karges behind the wheel of the blue and yellow #74.

2005 has already started out with success for the team - using the SF Regional at Laguna as a testing opportunity Off Camber Racing's Justin Hall captured two wins in two races and a track record, with Brad Rampelberg guiding his car to second position.

After the Miata Cup Laguna double, the West Coast Tour heads to Portland for a double header with ALMS, and wraps up at Infineon Raceway - another double header with IRL for a total of 6 races. The powers from the East and West will clash at the 2005 Miata Cup National Championship at Road Atlanta with Petit Le Mans.

Off Camber Racing Spec Miatas are supported by TC Design Fabricators, Mazdaspeed Motorsports, Capital City European, Bavarian Motorsports, JustRacing.com, MPME, Iron Canyon Motorsports, and many more.

Jeff Lepper Continues His Winning Ways At The Hankook United States Touring Car Championship Season Opener

FONTANA, Calif., March 14 – Jeff Lepper, in the IPP, RevItUpMotorsports.net, Collision Craft Dodge SRT-4 led a Lepper family one-two finish in the opening round of the NASA sanctioned Hankook Tire United States Touring Car Championship at California Speedway. Tom Lepper, driving the Special Projects Motorsports, Redline Oil sponsored Acura Integra made an outside pass on the second to last lap to round out the Lepper one-two. Brian Lock finished third in his SubyDude.com, Santa Cruz Subaru, DMS North America, Subaru WRX.

A USTCC record field of 22 cars showed up at California Speedway and the deep field produced an amazing diversity of cars to start the race. At the standing start, Jeff Lepper, made a stunning move and used the power of his Dodge to go from 11th to take the lead by the third corner! "I used my years of drag racing experience to get an incredible start," said an elated Jeff Lepper after the race. "I was able to use the power of the SRT-4 on the banking to keep everyone behind me, then I had to hold them all off in the tight in-field section. I would also like to thank my crew Chad, John, Curly and my co-driver Phil for working on the car all day and night to get it ready for the race," continued Lepper.

Jonathon Meris in the Motorsport Dynamics Honda Civic Sedan started 5th and advanced to 2nd for more than half the race before mechanical problems ruined his day. This left Jeff Lepper out front, and Lock in second with a charging Tom Lepper, who had a poor start, closing, in third place. With a lap and a half to go Lepper made an outside move stick on Lock for second coming off the oval onto the infield. Now, with a lap to go, Tom Lepper closed on his son. The race produced the closest finish in USTCC history with Jeff Lepper holding off his father by a mere 14/100th of a second margin of victory. Lock finished third in his Subaru, while Dave Brown in the Spoon Sports/OPAK Racing Acura RSX, and Justin Elin in the P1 Motorsports, T1R, INTEC Racing Honda Civic filled out the top five.

Niki Tam driving the Acutech Racing Acura Integra was awarded the APEX-I Integration Rookie of the Race award for finishing in 11th place. Drew Gillis, in the Ford Focus won the Hawk Brake Pads Hard Charger of the Race Award for climbing eight spots, finishing 12th after a 20th place starting position.

The Hankook United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC) is the one of the best-known touring car racing series in the United States. It features the fastest drivers in the country battling wheel-to-wheel in high performance versions of everyday sport compact road cars and draws huge race day crowds. The cars retain the shape of their mass production counterparts and privateer entries from Honda, Ford, Toyota, BMW and Acura are on the grid next to cars from teams running other makes including Audi, Mini and Subaru. The engines can generate over 270 horsepower and the cars accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in a staggering 4.2 seconds.
