My 1987 cabrio has been a fantastic daily. Yes, I rebuilt the engine but only due to the previous owner not taking care of it. If you are sure that the car has been maintained I have seen these cars with over 250K and still running strong. Even before the rebuild it never let me down.
I have a 1990 750IL and I had to replace the main engine wiring harness. I labelled the old injector connectors, but when I installed the new wiring harness, none of the numbers on the new fuel injector connectors could be matched. So, I don't know which fuel injector connector goes to which injector. Does anybody know how to determine which connector goes to which injector? THANKS!
According to the NHTSA, BMW will be instituting a recall campaign on 2500 ///M3s equipped with the DCT double clutch transmission. It affects cars built before Sept 10, 2008. Covering 2008 and 2009 model year cars.

The issue is that when the car is rapidly slowing the transmission software may trigger a mulit-stage downshift. At low speeds this may cause the engine to stall; increasing the possibility of a crash.

To rectify this issue customers will have the engine and transmission software updated free of charge as part of the recall.

This process has reportedly begun and owner's of ///M3s with the DCT option can call BMWNA at 1-800-831-1117 with any questions.
I think you're smart, particularly if you're planning to keep the car a long time.
Oil is cheap and engines are expensive.

I had a Samsung phone when I got my 335xi. The had bluetooth capability, but didn't pair with the car all that well. BMW has a list of approved phones for their system. I have to use AT&T with the region I live in, best coverage in the mountains. The approved list for AT&T/ BMW included the I phone, pretty much every Motorola product, and the Reasearch in Motion (Blackberry) products. I ended up getting the Blackberry Pearl, and my bluetooth issues went away. This is living in Lake Tahoe in the mountains as well. I'm very happy with the Blackberry overall.
Dealer let me drive it. It was pre sold, so we were very VERY mellow with it. It's very tame in the lower RPM's. I never revved it up, or pushed the mighty M button. It is a very nice car. I would like to spend more time than a lousy 3 miles with it, hopefully someday. It reminds me of how I feel when I go to a nudie bar, ha ha.
Is anyone going to Vegas on Mar 7, 8, 9 for M fest? Is anyone meeting in Palo Alto for the convoy, or the So. Cal convoy for that matter? With regards, to Palo Alto, what is the route? I live in Tahoe, and seeing if there is a place to meet on the 5, 99, or whatever. Or are people coming over 50 to 395 to 95 (I hope) I love driving, but don't want to back pedal 4 hours.
Hi

Can I use the 3.0L stroker kit from the M54B30 for my M52B25 to increase the capacity?

What about the M52B28 stroker kit on the M52B25?

Is it plug and play in either case? Or do I need to do anything else like remapping of the ECU etc?

Cheers
What jorbon said, plus I'll add a couple of comments.

1. GGC car control clinics and driving schools - make yourself faster, and you take those skills with you to whatever car comes next when you get tired of the 318.

B. There aren't really any low cost engine mods that give you a worthwhile bang for the buck. Save your pennies and spring for a Dowling Atlanta supercharger.

iii. While you're waiting for enough pennies for the supercharger, you can do a lot with suspension, wheel and tire mods to make the car corner and handle a lot better.

A friend of mine put E36 M3 engine, drive train and front suspension in his 318ti. Not exactly cheap, but awsome performance! But the supercharger will give you a big power increase without the extra weight of the S50/S52 engine.

HTH.

bmwluver wrote:

hi all,

im new with bmws and just wondering what i can do in terms of simple mods for my ti. Eventually ill want to do a total conversion (racing M class hopefully) but for now just looking at immediate mods to increase power and performance from basically a totally stock car. can some one also help me on where i can find information or give me any advice on doing this car?? Also where can i find manuals and stuff just to research on specifics...??? any helpfull information would be appreciated!!

thanks

I can't believe they have 4 different versions of the fuel pump.
