Here is an example of why it is a good idea to change oil between services instead of only at the 15,000 miles or more the service indicator lets you go.
This car used factory recommended service intervals.

A friend's Mini Cooper S also has long oil change intervals -- 10k miles or so -- but we changed it early anyway. When draining, the (cold) oil ran out like water and smelled strongly of gas. I can only imagine what the internals look like!

Ramon, do you know if they were using Castrol Syntec in the car?
That looks a lot like the oil pan from my old E30 M3, in which the PO used nothing but Syntec.

This one is a 97 E39 540 that was posted on the private BMW tech forum that I am on. It is a California car.

And the completely idiotic BMW change cycle is tailored to making the motor last for the duration of the warranty period. Not much more.
How about "lifetime" auto trans fluid? Noting like rewriting the laws of physics.

How about the lifetime fuel filters, no diff oil change it goes on and on.
It is not a coincidence that BMW stopped servicing cars properly at the same time they started giving away "Free Service" or "scheduled maintenance" _________________ Ramon
