 Ormond Beach, FL - July 12 -- After completing the three hour endurance KONI Challenge race at the 3.4 mile Watkins Glen International race track, BSI Racing took home another top-10 race finish. Todd Buras and Christian Miller finished 8th in the No. 56 Mazda MX-5, Joe Gibbs/MOMO race car in the KONI Challenge Super Cuts 200 Saturday afternoon. Teammates Justin Hall and Magnus Karlsson finished 17th in the No. 58 JustRacing.com/Joe Gibbs/ MOMO Mazda MX-5. BSI Racing now holds both cars in the top-10 with points. The No. 58 is in 8th place and the No. 56 is in 9th place.
Buras and Miller ran a smooth race without encountering any problems. Miller took the first stint and was impressed with the roadster’s handling. Miller has been competing in the KONI Challenge all season but this race marks his first experience teaming up with BSI Racing. “The team is great, the whole experience is great and very professional and the car is predictable over the long run,” said Miller. “They are great cars to run in for endurance racing and very light.” Miller turned the car over to Buras during a yellow caution lap. Buras raced the No. 56 without a mistake and finished under the checkered flag in 8th place. Miller will be returning to BSI Racing for the next KONI Challenge event at the Barber Motorsports Park.
The No. 58 car’s race results were a little off from their typical top-10 finishing. The car took home a DNF after on track damage and battery issues retired the car early. At the start of the race Karlsson was turning his fastest laps during his entire stint at the Glen. Then on lap 32 Karlsson hit the tire wall at turn six. The race car was towed off track and the team tried to salvage some of the damage so co-driver Hall could turn some laps. Hall was able to lay down a few laps but ultimately drove the car into the team’s canopy before race finish.
