SCCA National Convention Begins in Las Vegas By Eric Prill
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Jan. 28, 2010) – Sports Car Club of America’s Annual National Convention Presented by Gumout began Thursday morning at the South Point Hotel and Casino with a series of seminars for interested SCCA members. The three-day event features the SCCA Annual Membership Meeting Thursday afternoon as well as a series of awards luncheons and the Annual Hall of Fame induction Saturday night.
Thursday’s luncheon featured leadership and Regional achievement awards from 2009. The winners were as follows:
Tom Burke Award for Regional Growth Small Regions – Guam Region Medium Regions – South Jersey Region Large Regions – Philadelphia Region Jumbo Regions – Milwaukee Region
Region Communication Awards (Web and Newsletter Excellence) First Place: Atlanta Region Second Place: Kansas City Region Third Place: South Jersey Region Honorable Mention: Northeast Oklahoma Region and Pan American Region
Region Achievement (Overall program excellence including growth, retention and variety of program and events) Small Regions: Salina Region Medium Regions: Blackhawk Valley Region Large Regions: Northern New Jersey Region Jumbo Regions: Colorado Region
Nearly 450 of SCCA’s member leaders are in attendance for this year’s SCCA National Convention Presented by Gumout. The rest of Thursday features the President’s Report, the Annual Meeting and Town Hall and the Welcome Reception Presented by Mazda.
