Drivers are invited to finish the season at two track events in the Great Lakes area - GingerMan on Oct. 18-19 and Road America on Nov. 1-2. Run groups for driving school, lapping/practice, race, and lunch time touring - a pace for everyone and lots of track time.

Safe - all sessions are run to driving school/open tracking rules. Bring your street car.

Bring a friend and get the "Buddy" price - 25% off each entry. Both have to register at the same time.

Watch, or drive in, a fun new form of road racing.

There is one great track on West Palm Beach, they teach on Corvettes but you can drive your own car too! It's an awesome track!

FYI...new facility, Racers Ranch, under construction just east of Dallas. Four mile track! Article in Dallas Morning News. Their web site is www.racersranch.com. One of the partners told me that asphalt will be going down in a few weeks, events are being scheduled for this summer and fall.

Hi all,

The Perfect Line is holding a track day and driving school on July 6th, 2006 at Thunderhill in Willows CA. The primary focus for this event is on experienced drivers, there will not be instruction perse for those folks. I am going to have a small number of licensed race drivers and experienced instructors on hand to help out and instruct all first timers.

VENDORS / TUNING SHOPS will be on hand at this special event to offer rides and showcase their shop/race cars, offer discounts on products, provide suspension tuning at the track, and to generously provide items for our RAFFLE!

The cost is $209 (with a $9 discount if you pay by check).

ALSO, if I get 60 drivers by the registration deadline of June 26th I will refund everyone $20!!! Which basically means a $189 or $180 track day.

Expect lots of track times with nice long 30 minute sessions. (at least 2.5 hours)

Thunderhill May 5

Back from another great NCRC day at thunderhill. My last two events there have been my first time running the car on decent tires. I switched from the stock A048s to RA-1s. I'll never put another set of 048s on the car for track use

It took me a while to adjust to the new tires. They seem to want a little more slip than the old Yoko's.

In any case here are best sectors I put together in the last two events on the new tires.

Note: The THill_BP represent times running the bypass. The diffrence in my sector 5 times show the bypass to be worth about 2.5 seconds for my car.

My car has developed the dreaded lotus brake random anoyances. I wasn't braking late because I never quite knew how well they were going to work. There was no fade and the rotors, pads, lines all look fine. However, the abs system was kicking in at times it shouldn't. I'll get it looked at by someone smarter than me next week.

Despite all this I did mange a decent best full lap and a best of sectors of 2:04.1

And yes, watching the Porsche walk away in the straight makes me wish that I had at least 200hp. I also have all sorts of trouble with passing. I think the elise is just about the slowest off the turns of any car running under 2:10. I am still working on judging how much to back off to make a good run on people out of turns. I usually either get too close and have to kill the momentum in the turn or back off too far and fail to catch back up in time.

We had a good event with NCRC. The rain stayed away for most of the day. It did rain hard for one session, it was enough that I had a chance to find a rain line that seemed to work for me. I took my street tires to the event because of the weather predictions. I ended up wishing I had the shaved RA-1s.

The patch entry to turn 8 felt like it makes that turn a lot faster. The conditions were so random that the data logs are not really comparable to my other days there. At one point it was raining in 8 and 9 and sunny for the rest of the track.

I saw a few of the normal BMW crowd there also. Looked like everyone had a good time.
