| Larry Webster - Car and Driver Magazine |
| Featuring: | Larry Webster (larryw) |
| Date/Time: | 3/8/2006 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM PST |
| Seminar Description: |
Since Larry Webster began track testing cars for Car and Driver magazine over 10 years ago, he's wrung out more sports cars, hot rods, and race cars than he can count. As the chief test driver for Car and Driver, he spends a large portion of his work week driving. It's true what they say in that practice makes perfect and so Webster's developed a keen sense of vehicle dynamics and excellent car control skills. On the weekends, he puts his talent to the test, racing in everything from SCCA club events to off-road rallies.
Everyone always asks "Hey how do you get a job like that?" In Larry's case, he first earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Lehigh University and then joined the magazine as an intern in 1994. Even though he was a degreed engineer, he was only paid five bucks an hour. After a year of showing his commitment, hard work, and, well, the puppy dog face didn't hurt either, he was promoted to technical editor in 1995. In 2002, he moved into the technical director slot. In 2003, he began hosting Car and Driver's TV show, Car and Driver Television, which is seen by over one million people each week.
As a veteral of racing series as diverse as SCCA ITA, SCCA ProRALLY, multiple years of the NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill, and SCCA Touring 2, and having driven and tested cars as diverse as the Audi R8 Le Mans racer, various SPEED World Challenge cars, NASCAR racers, and a variety of high-end street cars, Larry has a unique perspective on both club racing and the automotive landscape in America.
Please join us as we discuss the state of racing and the automotive market in general. Bring your questions and log in for this special JustRacing Seminar!

| Seminar Description: | JustRacing is proud to welcome legendary sports car racer, Team Cadillac driver, and SPEED World Challenge GT points leader Andy Pilgrim to JustRacing Seminars, LIVE from the paddock at Laguna Seca Raceway during the final SPEED World Challenge event of the 2005 season.
Andy Pilgrim is recognized as one of the world's best sports car drivers, having amassed over 50 victories in 10 different series of competition. Andy's unbeaten - and likely unbeatable - world record of 116 consecutive race finishes in IMSA / PSCR events is unprecedented. Other notable racing accomplishments include 20 IMSA Firestone Firehawk Endurance Championship wins in 106 starts, 4 second-place finishes at the 24-Hours Of Le Mans, wins at both the 24-Hours Of Daytona and the 12-Hours Of Sebring, and a host of victories and podium finishes as a GM factory driver in the legendary Corvette C5-R, including the team's first victory at Texas in 2000.
In 2004, Cadillac chose Pilgrim to champion the brand's return to motorsport with the CTS-V race car. Pilgrim returned the favor with consistent driving, highlighted by coming from the back of the pack to an incredible 2nd place finish after having no clutch for the standing start of Cadillac's debut race at Sebring.
The 2005 SPEED World Challenge GT season has been the stuff of legend, with Andy leading the points chase into the final event of the year at Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca.
Prepare your list of questions and join us live from the paddock at Laguna Seca as we speak with Andy Pilgrim about his incredible career, the excitement of racing in World Challenge, and the spectacular success of Team Cadillac.
